Golavl is a beautiful and powerful fish. It is named so because of its rather massive head. In principle, he himself is a rather well-fed fellow. From most of his carp brethren, he is characterized by a narrow but thick body, allowing him to stand and feed on a fairly strong current. Thanks to this, the fight with him is a lot of fun, especially with individuals larger than a kilogram. He can shake his head like a pike, peck in the style of “give the spinning” as a jherekh, crush to the bottom like a pikeperch, and it happens all in one, and until he does not show up on the surface, so and guess who still sat on the hook. In addition to the fact that it allows you to experience a huge amount of emotion during fishing, so it is also very interesting to catch, because from season to season, from the time of year, its habitat and behavior changes. Therefore, fishing for chub I usually call hunting and most of all I like to hunt for him from a boat on a large river, which I want to tell you about in today’s article.
At vælge et sted
Naturally, from the boat we have many more opportunities for catching chub. Here and the opportunity to fish the rolls from all sides and to fish where it is simply impossible to pass along the shore. Perhaps, it is in such places, where, as they say, no man has set foot, it is more interesting to catch chub, because its population is larger. From the classic catching on small rivers, catching chub from a boat on medium and large currents is quite different. The fish is scattered over a much larger area, chooses for parking and feeding absolutely different and sometimes quite unpredictable places. The only thing that should always be, is the current. In most cases, he prefers a strong stream. After all, it is there that most of the feed is swiftly carried away, it must be eaten in time, so the bite of the chub is so strong. It can also be found on the border of the stream and back, and in periods of low activity, he can go to the shell with a relatively shallow depth and calm current. If the site has waterlogged trees or bushes along which the stream runs, this is also a great place, what to say about the overhanging branches above the water, from which all sorts of bugs fall.

Naturally, for catching chub from a boat you need a boat. What kind – here it is already a question of finance. Naturally, with a boat equipped with an electric motor with an anchor function is very convenient. When fishing by rafting, you can always quickly and relatively silently stop by pressing a button or slow down the speed of the raft. But even an ordinary rubber boat will do. The next most important part of the equipment is a fishing rod. For catching chub, you should not use super-fast spinning rods. The rod should dampen powerful jerks and do not give to tear the lips, if the chub sits behind the very edge of the mouth. What test to apply? Here everything depends on the place of fishing. Since the main lures rarely exceed a weight of 7 grams, you can choose a rod of such a test.
But if you decide to polovat chubastogo in the crusts, then without a reserve of power in the stem can not do without. Personally, I most often used Major Craft Finetail spinning rod up to 12 grams, but for comfortable fishing on small baits as a second rod I use SL Rods Atria Trout. I won’t dwell on the choice of reel – just choose based on your financial possibilities and balance with the rod. The most important thing is a good laying of thin braids and perfect work of friction to fight with the trophy, because in such fishing can often bite not only a large chub, but also a large stud, which will definitely make you sweat!
Choosing baits
Perhaps this is the most costly part of the whole fishing. Yes, purely theoretically you can try to choose for yourself 5-10 baits that will more or less catch and, for the most part, stay with the catch. But not for nothing in the boxes of golavlyavlyatniki have a huge number of wobblers. It happens, in periods of bad nibble even not even a dozen different baits, and even in different colors and depths, until you find what he today responds. At the same time with a complete lack of nibbling can even very successfully finish fishing. And it’s not just the output of fish, because you try to return to the previous baits – and the chub just closes its mouth. Of course, to begin with, you should not immediately fill the box with dozens of Japanese wobblers and on the first fishing trip half of them left on the squat. Such fishing will instantly disappoint, because the wallet we, most of us, is not rubber. I would recommend collecting a set of proven, well-known models, such as Jackall Chubby 38F, Jackall Chubby 38MR, Smith Camion Magnum SR. And a couple of inexpensive, but, nevertheless, very catching wobblers, for example: TsuYoki Chef, TsuYoki Fugaz, Strike Pro Cranky-X 40 EG-164. As you can see, I personally have the most catching baits are crankbaits. Their size, in general, ranges from 32 to 42 mm. Sometimes you need to lure the chub with small baits, holding them as slowly as possible, with pauses, sometimes on the contrary – large wobblers and fast enough! Golavl likes experiments.
Catching practice
The most active chub is often caught on the first throws to the point, or even during the reefing of the bait, so one of the tactics of its catching is rafting. Our boat is carried by the current on a promising area, and we methodically work it. Mostly it is throws into the bank, and in most cases it is the most frequent place of parking. Of course, there are also rolls in the middle of the river, on which “tadpole” likes to stand, but I have such are quite rare. At the same time it is possible to raft on one section several times. That is, we made one passage, then went upstream on the motor – and raft again. Golavl are not scared of the motor and often bites even on the fifth pass, because at one time physically you do not have time to get to all promising places or do not have time to pick up the bait.
Catching from the anchor also has a place, although I do not like it much. I like when nature is constantly moving in front of you, and standing and methodically casting one area is boring, but, as they say, to each his own. Such fishing has an advantage over rafting in that we can leisurely work down to the millimeter of water area, both in the horizontal and vertical axis, changing the direction of throwing and depth of wobblers. But not always such fishing is more successful, because while we pick up the key to the place, which may not even be a golavl, by rafting we already pass a large distance and pick up the right bait. But it happens the other way around, when by rafting you don’t have time to find the key to a low-active fish, and it is easier to do it from the anchor.
Konklusion
Catching chub is very interesting and exciting. He is always different, unpredictable, sometimes incomprehensible. Sometimes, you get angry, you want to give it all up, but after his nibble all your thoughts are only about how to repeat everything. So I wish everyone to catch their trophy chub, to experience these wonderful emotions, I hope my article was useful!
