The most common mistakes

Image 1 : Casting tackle myths and mistakes

The first and, as I believe, the main mistake in casting tackle, which has deterred a large number of beginners, is the incorrect selection of a multiplier reel, similar to a meat grinder. It is obligatory to take into account that cheap Chinese reels, which many people purchased to try out, some in general with quite expensive fishing rods, are of little use for proper operation. This is wrong, because with a cheap Chinese reel will not get a normal throw, and most often also beards with overruns constantly arise due to the inability to properly adjust and customize the multiplier. Even if you just want to try, you should take a good reel, but you can take the cheapest rod.

The second mistake is “beards”. This phenomenon is quite common among beginners, but most often it is not “beards”, but “runs”, which are unraveled quickly. I will not tell you in detail here, there are many videos on the Internet.

It is wrong to think that if the multiplier, he “the sea is knee-deep”. Each mult also has a range of weights with which it will work normally, ie acceptable to throw on the lower test and do not harm the mechanism when fishing on the upper limit of the test range.

One of the popular mistakes at the initial stage is the technique of throwing. Often beginners use a sharp and scathing throw, helping to deliver the bait to the maximum distance using a non-inertial coil. With a multiplicator this will not work, the throw should be carried out smoothly, but powerfully, in this case, adjusted brake systems act as the best helpers, sending the bait to the required distance.

Myths about casting fishing

Image 2 : Casting tackle myths and mistakes

The most common myth is the rumor that casting tackle is impossible to perform a long throw, and meanwhile, the record for the distance of throwing spinning tackle was set exactly with the use of a multiplicator reel.

Also, many people believe that with a mult is impossible to fish with light and ultra-light (ultralight) weights. This is another misconception, many prefer on such weights is casting for various reasons, another thing that the multiplier reels of this plan cost an order of magnitude more expensive and sometimes they have to be tuned, but this is already under personal needs.

Periodically heard from different fishermen that it is impossible to learn how to cast with casting tackle for one fishing trip, but so say those who have never tried casting, or tried, but with an inexpensive Chinese reel. Casting throwing is not complicated in itself, it just has a number of peculiarities that must be taken into account. Except when trying to master casting with a cheap Chinese-made reel, even an experienced angler will have a hard time catching fish in such conditions.

Some people think that fishing with casting is an oddity that has no clear advantages over classic spinning. In fact, if you sort it out and make a detailed comparison, fishing with a multiplier will bypass the classic spinning tackle in almost all parameters.

How to understand casting tackle

Casting tackle is comparable in complexity to the classic spinning tackle. Mastering it does not require any special skills. All that is required is an understanding of how and what works. There is a lot of detailed information on the Internet, fishermen who use casting, with whom you can consult. Therefore, if there is a desire, you will not have any problems with a competent approach.

The most important thing is to understand how to make a throw, what mistakes in the technique should be avoided. It is enough to take into account the differences in the performance of throwing casting tackle and classic spinning tackle, so that no beards were formed and no overruns occurred.

Understand the brake systems of multiplier reels, on what principle they work and it will become clear which system is more suitable for the desired type of bait. It is also important to understand how to adjust and customize the braking systems, because in the process of fishing not once have to adjust the work of these systems for the size and weight of the bait even one type.

Ideally, you need to understand how the animation of the bait depending on the use of braided cord or fishing line, because casting allows you to use both types without the disadvantages inherent in inertia reels. The main criterion when choosing is the amount of extensibility.

Casting tackle consists of the same components as the classic spinning, but a different principle of operation:

Competently assembled tackle, taking into account the specifics of casting fishing will please not only an experienced fisherman, but will also entice any novice in the admirers of such fishing. The main thing is not to forget that the main thing in the casting tackle is a multiplier reel, the rod and moreover the cord are secondary.

Features of the spread of casting in our country

For quite a long time, trigger rods and multiplier reels began to conquer the hearts of Russian fishermen. Someone immediately and completely switched to fishing with casting, leaving the dust in the corner of the classic tackle, and someone got rid of the casting set after a few throws and never returned to it.

There are many reasons for such a development. There were both weighty arguments, and misconceptions, and mistakes made out of ignorance. Of course, it is necessary to take into account that in our country casting tackle is beginning to take its own, more and more fishermen are beginning to master the multi is not a rush, as before, and thoughtfully and thoroughly. There is a mass understanding of what is casting and how to properly equip and use it.

Whether it is necessary or dabbling – everyone decides for himself. But having used casting for some time, having felt all nuances of work with such tackle, it becomes hard to return to the classics, because a non-inertial reel seems axe, a tool of the last century.

I totally get the myths around casting tackle! Once, I thought heavier gear meant better distance, but then I tried lighter setups and was blown away by how far I could cast. Sometimes, less really is more. Don’t let myths hold you back; experiment for the best results!
