Perch is one of the most common fish species of most water bodies of our country. And if we are talking about predators, then for sure. Striped robbers have a great appetite at any time of the year, often go in packs, so the nibbles happen en masse. Situations are different, but often perch – the most unpretentious fish of all that can be caught on spinning.
Blades, rubber, mandula, foam rubber and, of course, wobblers – this is an incomplete list of spinning baits for catching bass. Everyone has their own interests, but I think many will agree that bass fishing for wobblers is one of the most entertaining activities for any spinningist.
But what wobblers are best suited for bass fishing? In this we will try to understand both for individual groups of baits, and on specific examples.
Wobblers suitable for perch fishing are quite a lot, so I will try to categorize them into groups.

1. Wobblers “minnow”.
Known to all fans of wobbler fishing class, as close as possible in its form to the real prey of the predator. These are wobblers with a narrow body and flattened sides, which imitate a fry, so the perch perfectly attacks wobblers “minnow” regardless of their size and not infrequently catching perch on wobblers 10 and more centimeters long.
Although, of course, for targeted bass fishing is best suited wobblers from 5 to 7 centimeters in length. This is the most universal option for catching medium and large perch. Of course, among the perch “minnow” there are excellent models of a smaller size, but most of them are aimed not at the trophy, but at leaving zero. Although such wobblers are also necessary.
Let’s move on to examples:
ZipBaits Rigge 56. In every sense, a legendary wobbler, without which hardly any perch top can do without, except that the author simply did not put it. It is a perch classic with several variants of buoyancy and depths.
The Rigge combines gorgeous workmanship, a large selection of colors and the famous Mag Drive long throwing system. The 56 has really few competitors in the throwing range in this size. In addition, the wobbler has its bright game and is suitable for fishing with any types of wires. It is very simple and reliable, when catching bass – it is an automatic Kalashnikov among wobblers “minnow”.
Its use is most effective in the upper layers at a depth of 30 cm to a meter and a half. The wobbler is also unpretentious to the current and perfectly catches on rivers. It also has a very successful analog Kosadaka Ion 55XS – a sinking version of the budget Ridge, which is also very effective in bass fishing. I like it very much, and more than once made competition to its famous forefather.
The main difference between Ion and Ridge is the absence of the first own game, which makes it difficult to use it when catching “white” predator, but for perch jerk wiring is a priority, so in my hands it shows no less worthy results than the original. Ridge has a lot of analogs, some of which I tried, but I liked Ion 55XS most of all. Ion 70XS also catches “sailors” quite well. Strike Pro Jumper 70SP works not worse than him on a good perch.
Further I can not pass by one of the most underestimated wobblers for catching perch – Tsuribito Minnow in sizes 42 and 50. In my opinion, it is a direct competitor to the above wobblers, and with a passive pecking “striped” will give them a head start. Wobblers are simple in appearance, but very effective in catching bass. They also have all variants of buoyancy and are applicable in similar conditions. Lake, pond, river – no difference. Minnow flies far and has a beautiful game, which is not difficult to set. Catch well and on the even wiring, and when twitching.
The next “minnow” is Pontoon 21 Crackjack. This series of wobblers in general, in my opinion, the most successful in this brand, including a myriad of all kinds of models on the depth and buoyancy. When it comes to bass, I like the sizes 48 and 58 mm.
This is a very “fidgety” wobbler with a gorgeous long throw, stable game and beautiful “rolling”. There are so many different colors in the catalog that the eyes run wild, sometimes it is difficult to choose. Crackjack is a nice, high-quality wobbler, and I always had the impression that it costs more than it sells. At the same time, it is simple, absolutely not demanding to wiring. Even a novice angler can cope with it. Hence the variants of wiring: from uniform to variations of jerk animation.
If for you in the first place the number of nibbles, then you can not pass by the little Strike Pro Midg. This is an ultralight wobbler-cosyler bass. It is very light and flies worse than the above colleagues, so it asks for the appropriate tackle. On a light rod with a thin fishing line, the wobbler is very docile, with active play and variability of wiggling.
Its best use when fishing in localized areas, it is great to lure perch from snags or grass, passive fish from the pack. It is good when fishing from a boat, holds the current well, although I like it better when fishing on ponds and lakes. The wobbler works at shallow depths, somewhere around half a meter.
The next hero differs, first of all, its unusual buoyancy – Smith D-Contact 50S, which is designed for fast currents. Why? It is sinking and sinks quite quickly. But this does not prevent the wobbler to catch well and on non-current water bodies. It is easy to break through the lower and middle layers, and at the surface with a quick wiring is quite realistic. As wiring is best suited chaotic twitching almost without pauses. The game of the wobbler is bright, it beautifully falls over at jerks and falls down at pauses. Distant throwing allows you to expand the search for places where the predator stands.
A decent number of perch I caught and on an infrequent guest of wobbler ratings – Yo-Zuri 3D Minnow 65SP (F621). The wobbler is more complicated than its colleagues in the wiring, it works better on a soft rod and not strong single jerks, which make the wobbler write out a snake. The game is beautiful and mesmerizing, so the perch on it is often led, especially single.
Good catches also classic from Lucky Craft – Pointer, I like the bass sizes 48 and 65. They do not have the best throw, but very lively game and beautiful “rolling”, so they catch perch at the level. A lot of “striped” conquered the bright game of the famous “shad” Zip Baits Khamsin and its successful analog Kosadaka Mirage XS. They have always worked well for me on any fish and perch is no exception. If we are talking about perch bigger, then Kosadaka Quant XS catches it perfectly.
This list of “minnows” can go on for a long time and almost every manufacturer will have working models, but the most interesting representatives from my bell tower I indicated.
2. Crankbaits.
Surely the majority of spinningists tried to catch and this type of wobblers, which are “ball-like” lures with active own game. They are no less popular than minnows, because it is easier to animate, because the classic wiring krenki is considered to be even wiring. Among them – a lot of universal baits that catch chub, jherekh, pike, so I will try to highlight their leaders specifically in bass fishing.
Tsuribito Baby Crank 35 is a small representative of the “crank” kingdom of high quality at a small price. It has several models in depth and buoyancy with a large selection of really beautiful colors. I tried all versions, and all of them cool catch “striped”, although at first DR Baby Crank acted in this role better than others, especially when fishing on lakes and ponds. But after more often began to raft on small rivers, SR and SSR versions began to pull ahead. So I can safely say that they all catch bass perfectly, the main thing is to find the right conditions. For DR – it is a depth of about a meter, for SR – half a meter, for SSR – 20-30 cm.
The wobbler for its weight flies decently, actively plays, on the wiring uniform prevails, but the wobbler also relates well to jerks. Smith Camion – someone will say that this wobbler was the predecessor of the Baby Crank, but they are still a little different, although similar. The Camion also has several models with different features and a large selection of colors. The wobbler is excellent and has also outfished my bass in quantity. In terms of application, they are very similar to the above described wobbler from Tsuribito.
He has a very successful copy from Kosadaka – Roger, which in many ways resembles the original and also catches perfectly! Next, I will note not quite perch-sized wobbler Itumo Samba 100F – a large noisy krenk with an active game. Compared to the classic perch crankbaits, it stands out for its size, weight, and gorgeous throwing range. In this he is the leader of the rating of krenki. The wobbler also stands out for its work in the water, because in addition to the standard “even” he delightfully plays on the jerk wiring. Single short jerks make the wobbler beautifully turn around on the spot and lure the perch out of hiding places. Despite its throw, I like Samba very much in point catching on bushes, snags, browbars. This crank has caught a lot of perch on different reservoirs. It is best to use it at a depth of 0.5 to 1.5 meters. It behaves well on the current.
Next, many will imprison me, because I will pass by the legend Jackall Chubby and move on to its analogs: Strike Pro Cranky, Tsuribito Sweet Crank, Kosadaka Raven and Itumo Chip. The latter, although different in appearance, but the characteristics are very similar and the conditions of its use are similar. We are talking about SR versions, although there are others in the catalog, but I like them better.
All of them have a bright stable game, good throwing, catch in the conditional horizon of 0.5 m, cool hold the current and easy to control. Itumo Booby 45F – another striking example of perch crank. It is slightly larger and heavier than the bulk of krenki, has a distant and accurate throw. The wobbler behaves confidently and on the current, and without it. It also tweets perfectly, slightly floating on pauses. It is cool to catch on rivers on bushes, in grass “windows”, especially jerk wiring. It is somewhat similar in application with Samba 100F.
Among the shallow-water mowers can not fail to note the krenk Kosadaka Raven SH 60F. When fishing at a depth of 0.3-0.5 m in the presence of a large amount of vegetation, it is really good! Beautiful flipping from side to side at jerks and stable game even with grass stuck on the hooks are its main features. Long throwing is included.
Megabass likes the Griffon series, which has a lot of models of different sizes, depths, loading, buoyancy … Cool wobblers with a stable game. In shallow water they are not inferior to Knuckle. In shallow water also not badly catches perch the strangest wobbler Kosadaka Cubix, it does not fly very well, but the fish collects at the level! Not inferior to him and much more rare inhabitant of fishing boxes Imakatsu Waddle Bats. The list could go on, but I like these most of all.
3. “Dips.
It’s about wobblers with a large depth. It is not always measured in several meters, because small wobblers even with a large blade are not very deep. To determine them simply – gives out a large “blade”. Tsuribito Deep Diver Minnow 60SP – I decided to start with this wobbler, because it is really good for perch and most often perch of medium size are hung on it.
It flies well, noisy, with a very stable game and work in its horizon – in the area of one meter – one and a half meters. The wobbler reacts well to jerks, going to the sides with stable “glides”, on pauses hanging in the thickness. The noise of the wobbler also attracts the predator well. It is suitable for fishing on rivers, and on quarries and lakes. It is excellent to fish the berms and snags. Zip Baits Orbit 65 MR-S – a classic “dip” for catching “striped” with an excellent magnetic system of throwing, stable behavior in the water and very simple in wiring – perfectly suitable for any of its variants.
The depth of its immersion is somewhere around a meter and a little. The wobbler is qualitative, beautiful and catching, definitely should be in the collection. Kosadaka Kurado DD – 6-centimeter “dip” minnow with active own game. It works at a depth of 1 to 2 meters, although it can dive deeper. Perfectly applicable on the current, although without it the wobbler is good.
As a wiring works better even and stop&go, jerks can also be connected, although it seemed to me that it is not purely “twitch” wobbler and with slow wiring with twitching at pauses, it is much more effective on perch than constant twitching. The wobbler is floating, but pops up not too quickly.
Kosadaka Maru XL – another colleague of the above wobbler with a decent blade and perch bias. Its size is smaller – only 4.5 cm, so perch attack it more often, although the size is mostly smaller, but it does not prevent to catch wobblers and humpbacks. Throwing is not very, but on a light tackle is not bad. The game is very active, hold it easily and can be any wiring. To twitching wobbler is just more adapted and catches even on the favorite perch chaotic wiring. But separately I would like to note a series of 2-3 jerks and a pause of about 5 seconds. It perfectly collects passive perch. He is also floating, but with a leash pops up quite slowly. Horizon wiring in the area of a meter. The wobbler on perch is very good!
Strike Pro Archback Deep Diver 60DL – a cool “dip” is also in this company. It also resembles the Tsuribito Jerkbait 50 DR, which catches perch at the level of its Strike Pro colleague and works in similar conditions, except that it is not so noisy. Both wobblers have not the best flight data, but compensate for this with beautiful game and excellent performance. Excellent “dips” have Lucky Craft Pointer series, Pontoon 21 Crackjack and Greedy Guts and others….
4. Surface wobblers.
Here it is more correct to say that it is not really about wobblers, it is more logical to include “walkers”, “poppers” and similar baits. Not all of them go on the surface, some go a little lower, but due to their buoyancy and excellent work in the top layer, I grouped them here. Lucky Craft Sum Malas – so much has already been said, shown and written about this top surface wobbler that there is no point in telling once again how cool and effective it is. On shallows – he is one of the leaders, and bass will never give up on him! Its long throw and great game with variants of several types of wiring (as a wobbler, popper and walker) make it very indispensable in conditions of shallow depths.
Jackall Chubby SSR is a gorgeous surface crankbait that goes along the water surface. Its main purpose is to draw “whiskers” on the water, attracting predators from below. Although the main use of the wobbler in my case is related to catching chub, perch are caught on it no less. The wobbler has a very stable game, and its main advantage over its analogs – a gorgeous system of long-range throwing, thanks to which the krenk is very long-range, and also accurate – put it from afar between the grass or in the “window” under the bushes is not a problem. The wobbler is very good!
Tsuribito Pencil is already much more familiar surface perch bait – “walker”. There are several models in different sizes, which differ in throwing distance, and the game is similar. When catching perch the most productive of them seemed the youngest “pencil” length of 4.7 cm, although 6 cm from him a little behind. He is stable and easily goes to the sides on jerks, cutting the surface.
A couple more excellent perch “walkers” are Jackall Water Moccasin and Itumo Swing. Although they are larger, but this does not prevent them from catching perch often. They have a definite advantage in throwing distance, and the game is no less stable. Kosadaka Glide in the size of 7.5 cm will not leave without nibbles. Yo-Zuri 3DS Popper 65F – a representative of the class of poppers of the new generation, the successor of the classic popper 3D from Yo-Zuri. It has all the inherent characteristics for this type of bait – long throw, high buoyancy, creating splashes during jerk wiring. Popper is very simple and clear, it is easy to conduct traditional single jerks, works wiring as without stops, and with pauses. Of course, we can mention others, but for now let’s stop and move on to more deep-water conquerors of the perch kingdom.
5. Rattlins, vibes.
This is an interesting type of sinking bladeless wobblers that create a strong vibration when wiring and are often designed for bottom fishing. The Kosadaka Ion Vib is my most successful bass rattlin. Its length is 6 centimeters, and due to the narrow shape of the body it looks like a fry. With such a short length, it weighs 12 grams and flies very far. It actively oscillates in the water and is easy to control, as a wiring is best suited jig step wiring and slow even with touching the bottom. Perch wobbler catches from small to large!
Kosadaka Rat V – another cool representative of this brand with no less interesting game and a large selection of models, of which there are already two – 5 and 6.5 cm. The shape of rattlins is different, they are already with a higher and wider body, due to which slower and more fun to behave in the water. Throw with them is not so distant, but the wiring can be used the same, except that with large time pauses. Even wiring also catches well.
Raid Level Vib Boost – small sinking vibe with a very bright game and serious vibration on wiring. A very interesting lure for targeted bass fishing. This rare Japanese company has produced not only a beautiful and high quality bait, but also gave the angler a choice of several options for weight – even in one size there are lures with different weights, which will allow you to pick up the speed of diving under a particular water body. This is an excellent bait for bass, with a stable game on any wiring. It catches well both in the water column and near the bottom with its touch.
Strike Pro Astro Vibe – an interesting cicada, created mainly for fishing in the current. Its purpose and wiring is similar to rattlins and vibes. For its small size, the lure is very long-range. It perfectly holds the current, although in non-current water bodies perfectly catches. As wiring is best suited uniform with pauses and jig step wiring.
A close competitor of this bait is another Strike Pro cicada – Farfalla. This is a very beautiful looking butterfly with a tooth-shattering vibration when wiring, it is impossible not to feel it even on heavy tackle. It also has several small sizes from 33 to 55 mm. The bait is also easy on wiring, with a stable game, with it you will achieve results on most reservoirs, it catches perch perfectly!
The smallest rattlin Bassday Range Vib – 45 mm long – also catches bass perfectly. It weighs just over 6 grams for its size and flies very far, the wiring is simple, catches and on the even, and jig can be, in general, cool bass rattlin.
These ratings can be continued indefinitely and remember all the successful lures for catching bass, which are really very, very many, but hopefully this list will help someone to find a catching wobbler, remember their leaders or try something new.

Hey, I remember using some wobblers last summer on a trip with my buddies. We hit this sweet spot, and those bass were biting like crazy! The right wobblers made all the difference. Can’t wait to try out some new ones this season!
