¿Cómo elegir un señuelo para spinning?

Before you go directly to the choice of bait for spinning, you need to consider the conditions in which fishing will take place. What kind of place will it be? Will it be a lake, or a quiet pond, or another small body of water? Is it a small river or is it “big water”? You also need to consider whether you will be fishing from a boat or from shore.

Looking for a catchable spot

But wherever fishing is planned, the angler always wants to find a catching place. What are the characteristics of such a place, which will bring you a lot of fish?

The first characteristic of a fishing spot can be called a large amount of food. If there is food for the fish in a certain place, the fish themselves will be there as well.

fishing conditions

The second characteristic, as a rule, is the presence of shelter, ambush, that is, those places where fish can hide. Often it is snags, trees, fallen into the water, algae.

The third component of success comes from a popular saying: “Fish look for where it is deeper”. Fish like to hide in depressions in the bottom.

And if you combine these three factors and find on your reservoir just such a place, you can consider that half of the success is in your pocket.

When fishing in shallow water, you need to take into account that the fish can very well see the spinningist. Therefore, a special role in this case plays a camouflage. You should also try to throw the bait as far as possible.

You can summarize the list of promising places on any reservoir.

So, the most catchable points:

  • pits;
  • snags;
  • algae near the shore;
  • rolls;
  • fallen trees;
  • berms;
  • steep banks;
  • bridge overhangs, dams and weirs;
  • overhanging bushes or trees.

Object of “hunting”

The next important point in the choice of bait is the object of catching. Who do you want to hunt? Who will be your desired trophy? Spinning is mainly used for catching predators, but sometimes “peaceful” fish can get caught.

The main species of fish that can get on the bait of a spinningist when fishing on the river are:

1. pike. For many spinning anglers, it is this spotted predator is the most coveted trophy. In the middle zone, it lives in both large and small rivers, if they are quite deep, and the current is not very fast.

2. Pikeperch. As a rule, the pikeperch is found on large water, lives in large rivers, likes a stony or clay bottom. Pikeperch is the largest representative of the perch family, can reach 20 kg. Although it usually weighs from half a kilo to 5 kg.

3. perch. This is one of the most beautiful fish with red fins and striped body. Perch is caught in medium and large rivers, does not like strong current, often lives at great depths. On spinning you can catch both small and large specimens.

4. Jherech. It belongs to the carp family. Large fish with a combative character, a real predator. Can reach large sizes.

5. Golavl. Also belongs to the carp family. Eats a variety of food, ranging from insects and worms to the fry of other fish.

6. Catfish. This is a giant, the size of which can reach more than 100 kg. Dwells in wide rivers at great depths, often living in pits at 15-20 meters.

7. Trout. Lives in rivers with cold water and a fast current. It is a very beautiful and strong fish from the salmon family.

8. Burbot. This “river snake” belongs to the group of codfish. The body of the burbot is greatly elongated, and the head is flat.

9. Yazi. It belongs to the carp family, as well as stud and chub. It can be found at great depths of calm rivers, and on rocky rolls.

Types of baits

Now we turn to a general review of baits for spinning. In general, baits are divided into soft and hard.

Soft baits include foam y silicone baits. The advantage of soft baits is that they can well imitate various small living organisms (fry, insects, reptiles, arthropods, etc.). And most importantly: all modern silicone lures use an edible attractant, which endows the rubber with flavor and edibility.

foam pads

1. Porolons are used in conjunction with jig heads. Because of its good hygroscopicity and the ability to gradually get wet while in the water, the tail of the lure is raised to the top, giving the remaining air. This provides the main function of this lure – to resemble a fish feeding from the bottom, which is up to its ears busy with its business and can become an easy prey.

Because of its simplicity, foam fish are especially popular in Russia. Porolon fish can be a variety of colors and shades. They can be equipped with hooks of various models, but the most popular option is a pinned double. This type of bait is very well suited for deep snags.

2.Silicone baits are also used for jig fishing. They, in turn, are subdivided into the following most common types.

3.Vibrotail. Represents a silicone bait, more often in the form of a fish with a massive tail. “Dig” located at the end, forcing the tail to wag in different directions, which attracts predators.

4.Twisters. These are very active baits, made most often in a runny form, where most of the body is the tail in the form of a question mark. They look more like large worms or larvae of all sorts of insects.

There are two main categories of hard baits that can be attributed to hard baits – these are trollers y wobblers.

5. Thewobbler is one of the most interesting baits. The appearance of wobblers had a revolutionary impact on spinning fishing. The bait came to the liking of very many predatory fish around the world. Catch trophy fish with the help of a wobbler has become much easier.

There is a great variety of wobblers. However, there are certain characteristics that unite this type of bait.
Wobbler consists of several parts: the body (which is made of different hard materials, such as plastic or wood), hooks (one or more, single or triple), blade (and sometimes there is a notch) in the nose part.

The main indicators of wobblers are the degree of buoyancy, the shape of the body, the depth of immersion.

wobbler fishing

According to the degree of buoyancy there are:

By body shape, wobblers come in a wide variety. More about this can be found in the article on wobblers.

According to the depth of immersion there are:

  • Superficial (almost do not deepen when wiring);
  • medium depth;
  • deep-water (deeply immersed when wiring – from 2 to 10 meters).

6. Another important category of solid baits – it is blades.

In essence, a troller is a metal plate with a hook.

  • The most common are oscillating blades (or oscillators). Such a troll is designed to imitate the movement of a live fish. The material for manufacture can be different: copper, lead, steel, tungsten and even hard plastic.

trolling

  • The next type of blades – rotating (or spinners). This bait is suitable for beginner anglers, since it does not require special knowledge and skills. The rotating trolley consists of a metal core with a wire rod, on which a rotating petal is attached. To the lower end of the spinner is attached a treble hook. Such a troll can be made of any material that is resistant to corrosion.
  • Another type of troller is a pilker. Pilker is, in fact, a compact heavy dummy of elongated shape with hooks. Pilker is used mainly for fishing, where the maximum throwing range is required. Or for vertical jigs in deep water.

Lures for specific fish species

Now that we know the conditions of the upcoming fishing, the fish expected in the catch, and all the variety of tackle, we can say which tackle is the most suitable for a particular species of fish.

pike

Pike. This river predator responds well to both the livebait and artificial baits. As livebait are used roach, bleak, perch, gudgeon, spruce and even frogs. Of artificial baits are well suited to various wobblers, especially poppers, oscillating and rotating blades, as well as jigs (silicone and foam baits).

Lucioperca. Similar to pike, pikeperch is caught on natural baits (on a livebait) and on artificial ones. Of artificial baits pikeperch most of all prefers jig variants of mounting (soft silicone and foam fish). Also often very well trigger oscillating blades when wiring in the benthic horizon of water. At night, pikeperch go out to feed on shoals and rolls, where shallow wobblers are very good. Pikeperch can be caught at night and on the jig, but with a lighter head to increase the pause fall.

Perca. Of natural baits perch eat moths and worms well. Among artificial baits are leading small wobblers, blades (especially spinners), silicone baits. In summer, surface baits are well suited: volkers, poppers, artificial flies. In the fall season perch can be tempted by jig baits and small wobblers.

Gillies: Perhaps the classics of stud fishing can be considered oscillating baits such as “kastmaster” and, of course, pilkers. Also from artificial baits often help fidget spinners, wobblers, especially poppers and wolfers, sometimes there is a stud on a jig.

chub

Golavl. Most often, chub are interested in various insects falling into the water from the coastal vegetation. May beetle is of particular interest to golavl. From artificial baits are suitable small wobblers(krenki), spinners and micro-jigs.

Trout. Perhaps the most unpredictable fish with a nasty character. The mood of trout can change several times a day and from this will change its preferences for baits. The most basic baits for trout – it’s micro-jigs, wobblers and micro-jigs. The most important thing to have a large palette of baits in different colors. Trout depending on the mood likes bright, glamorous or natural shades.

burbot fishing

Catfish y burbot are conditionally spinning fish. That is, they are caught on spinning, but this is not the main method of catching these predators. Most often “mustached” are caught on a jig with edible rubber, because these fish during the hunt rely more on the sense of smell and taste buds. Both are caught predominantly in the dark. The only difference is the time of year, catfish is heat-loving and its time is summer. Burbot is exactly the opposite – likes cold water, the peak of activity is in the fall and winter.

Baits when fishing from a boat

Separately, it should be said about baits suitable for fishing from a boat. Such fishing is designed to catch large, trophy fish.

Since the boat fishing does not need a long throw, you can use jig baits with large weights, wobblers with a large depth, the size of up to 130 mm and more.

    Choosing a lure is like picking the right playlist for fishing! Last summer, I snagged a huge bass with a bright spinnerbait. It’s all about matching the colors and vibes to what the fish are curious about. Can’t wait to hit the water again!

    Choosing a lure for spinning is all about matching the vibe of the water. I remember using a bright spinner on a cloudy day and caught more fish than my buddies! Don’t overthink it—just go with what feels right and experiment. You’ll be reeling in the catches in no time!
