Naktinis vikšras. Ką? Kur? Kada?

I have already written more than once that fishing for stud is a very interesting activity in itself, and imagine if you add dark time of the day to this equation….

Night, stars, the quiet murmuring of water on the roll and all this instantly goes to the background after the most powerful blow sherespera and fascinating struggle with this strong fish. In general, as for me, the night fishing of stud is a kind of symbiosis of romance and a constant release of adrenaline, as all the feelings at night and so heightened. Well, we will talk about what you need to do to “stars aligned” in this article.

Places of catching

Naturally, before catching a sherespere it must first be found and in fact this is the most important task in his night fishing. It is quite obvious that it is easiest to find it in the daytime, when it constantly gives out its presence with powerful splashes on the surface and as a rule it comes to the same places at night. In addition to the classic points in the form of rolls and simple shallow water rapids also worth paying attention to areas where near the main stream there are various anomalies like localized areas of reverse current or obstacles in the form of large stones and brought in the spring driftwood. As a rule, in such zones gathers for the night mallow, and as you know – where the prey, there and predator.

As a rule, it comes to these same places at night as well

In general, as well as any other fish stud need to look for and over time you will collect your own list of points with links to the time of release and baits that are most optimal in a particular location. And there is another dependence – most often to each location is tied to a certain size of stud. And although, as always, of course, there are exceptions to the rules, but, for example, if the average size of sheresper small, then count on catching a trophy in this particular place is not worth it. Therefore, every time there is also a dilemma – to continue fishing or vice versa try to change the point and, accordingly, the size of the catch. And believe me – do not always want to change something, especially when there are nibbles, and in another place the output may not be.

Otherwise, as I have already written above – watch the river during the day, visit these locations at night and you will quickly enough form your top points, between which you will be constantly traveling while catching.

Fishing tactics and baits

Above I have already written that over time you will naturally collect your own arsenal of baits for each specific location. But in fact, in many respects, these baits will constantly echo each other and in fact, wobblers just for night fishing of the gerich a lot of and
do not need.
For example, I mainly use only two types of baits – stickbaits and minnows. Naturally, both those and those lures are presented in different weights, sizes and degree of depth, but again – the most “popular” size I have is 50-70 millimeters and in most cases it is quite enough. Although again, not uncommon and cases where the sheresper, on the contrary, responds only to the “cutlets” in size from nine to fifteen centimeters, and the rest ignores at all. Well, and what prefers the zherekh today as usual is determined only by a selection of baits and no other way. I have it looks like this – if there is any external activity, then I start with sub-surface baits, and if on the contrary – silence and peace, then in the case go already minnow. The size of those and those at first as a rule small, and then if there is no reaction is gradually enlarged.

Traditionally, a little “favorites”:

Well, and perhaps I will repeat myself, but it is in the catching of stud and it is at night is very important as the size of the bait, and the horizon of its wiring, because despite his rather active behavior this fellow is in fact that still fastidious. Therefore, even a centimeter of difference in the size of the bait can both bring results and be the culprit of its absence.

Animation and other “technical” moments

As in the case with pikeperch, when night fishing for minnow, I mostly use the most usual even wiring, I can only occasionally make a couple of small jerks and that, I do it more in order to portray a wounded fry at the time of failure of the game bait. With stickbait the general picture is a little different and here I already much more often use the jerk technique of wiring, especially if I want to spend the bait as close to the surface. In general, there are no special secrets here, except for one point – our bait should be in the field of vision of the stud for as long as possible and therefore we are very important directly as the angle of feeding, and the speed of the wiring itself.
There are no special requirements for the gear used , except that it is better not to use very “delicate” lites. Because the stud itself is quite a strong opponent and plus we are talking about night time, when there is no desire to mincing and want to fully control the process of fishing. But the friction of thereel is desirable to weaken – on small baits are usually installed not very powerful tees, and the stud from a kilogram and above is quite capable of bending them. Agree that to change the tees at night on the shore is still that pleasure and this, not to mention that it could be the only bite for the night.

The main task in fact is reduced only to the search for places where the stud feeds at night and the selection of the “right” bait

As it does not sound strange, but in fact, to catch the stud in the dark time of day is much easier than in the daytime. This is due to the fact that at this time he is less cautious – the main thing is not to make a lot of noise and do not shine a flashlight directly into the place of catching. The main task in fact is reduced only to the search for places where he feeds at night and the selection of the “right” bait of the “right” size.
So go ahead and the result will not make you wait long.
Good luck to all.

I remember one night stumbling upon a bunch of nightcrawlers while digging in my backyard. It was around midnight after a rainstorm, and they were everywhere! Perfect for fishing, so I scooped some up. Those slippery critters are great bait! Always a wild surprise out there!

Totally relate! I once found a ton of nightcrawlers too after a heavy rain. I was out late for a campfire. Grabbed a few, and they worked like a charm during my fishing trip the next day. Nature really knows how to throw in surprises!

I remember one night digging in my garden and stumbled upon a nightcrawler! It was wiggling around in the damp soil. Those little guys are great for bait when fishing. I let a few go back, but they sure helped me catch some good bass later!
