Feeder rods are representedon the Russian market in a large assortment. There are both domestic and foreign brands. There are budget feeder rods and top segment gear for any purse. All this can confuse the novice fisherman, because it is he who asks the question of choice. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to emphasize the most important details of the feeder spinning rod and explain to anglers what is really important and what to pay attention to. So, how to choose a feeder rod?

Ilgis

Length of .rod. Feeder fishing rods have a decent range of lengths, let’s try to categorize them.

Pickers, as a rule, short rods from 240 to 300 cm, with a test range from 40 to 60 grams. Picker rods are needed for fishing at short distances up to 20 meters, for speed fishing, if there is a sporting bias. Usually fishing is done with feeders with small weights. Pickers are very good for fishing on small rivers, lakes.

Anything longer than 3 meters, as a rule, it is already feeders. They come in lengths of 3.30m, 3.60m, 3.90m, 4.20m, 4.50m. The longer the feeder, the farther you can throw the equipment. This is especially important for fishing on reservoirs and large rivers such as the Volga or Kama. In addition, long rods are also used when fishing from under a steep bank and we need a long lever to keep the caught fish from hitting the bank and coming off.

As a rule, the length of the rod is selected under the conditions of fishing. All this, of course, is individual, but for those who would like to be specific, we can conditionally say that the rod 360 cm is convenient to catch at distances up to 35 meters, rod 390 – at distances up to 50 meters, rod 420 – at distances up to 70 meters. But once again we emphasize that everything is very individual.

The universal length and growth of the first rod, as a rule, is the length of 360 cm, and you should start with it.

Test

Test of the rod: let’s understand what it is? It’s simple – this is the range within which you can load a spinning rod for feeder with a feeder with feed. If it is written test up to 100 grams, it means that a feeder weighing 150 grams with this rod does not need to throw.

The most universal test is the threshold of 100 grams. Usually beginners take rods with a length of 360 cm and a test of 100 grams. Such a rod is strong enough and can forgive the mistakes of beginners. After acquaintance with feeder fishing through the prism of his rod, the angler can already objectively realize what lengths and tests he needs.

As a rule, picker rods do not have a test above 60 grams, because they are not designed for fishing at long distances with heavy feeders. Usually it is lake fishing for roach, crucian carp, carp and so on. Although there are, of course, and exceptions, for example, the Dnieper River in some places is not very wide, but has a powerful current, so there are rods with a test of 100 and 150 grams at a height of 300 cm. But this is a very special case. Then the following rule works: the higher the rod, the higher the test. The stronger the current, the heavier you need a feeder, the higher the test.

Let’s say that for fishing on the lake is enough test and 60 grams, on the river 100 grams. And on the river with a strong current test is necessary 150 or even 180 grams.

Rings

Rings on the blank: here it is important to pay attention to two things.

The first is the ring that is closest to the spool holder. The same ring on the blank is the largest. It should be about one meter away from the spool holder. Such a distance allows you to freely make the reset of the line and avoid breaks due to the slap of the line on the first ring.

The second point is the rings on the tops, quivertips. They should not be small, it is desirable that the size was 4 mm. With such rings it is easy to catch both in summer in the down, and in winter, as well as with the use of a shock leader.

The stroi of the fishing rod

If you are wondering what kind of fishing rod to choose, then the conversation about the structure should be in the last place.

feeder line

Fast rods are rigid, they are suitable for fishing with large and heavy feeders, on strong rivers and places where power throws are needed. Such rods are not in fashion now, but among budget rods are most often caught.

Slow (parabolic) rods are soft rods, which you will not throw far, but they are very good at tying fish and work very well for bream and carp. As a rule, such rods are more professional and are used by fishermen when they themselves came to the realization that they need such a line.

Progressive line rods are the most popular line. On the “shake” it looks like a fast line, but when throwing and fishing, the blank is included in the work and helps the fisherman to both throw and fight with the fish. The price of a rod with a progressive structure is also a little “bite”.

As a rule, in the set of an experienced donor there are rods of all structures, for all occasions. But, if you do not know where to start, try to shake the blank, pay attention that it was not too hard and not too soft. About average value of these characteristics will be quite suitable for your first rod.

Tippets

maitintuvo patarimai

Quivertips come in two types: glass (feederglass) and graphite.

For your first fishing trips, you should choose a rod with both types of tips. Glass tops are good because they are very soft and show the bite of fish well. And also they are not fragile and sometimes forgive mistakes to fishermen. But glass tops are not suitable for the current.

Graphite tops are a continuation of the rod and are excellent for fishing on rivers with current. There are exceptions, but this is not the point. Choosing a rod where the set of tips is formed from both materials, you will close all possible conditions of your fishing.
