It’s no secret that the most common hobby in our country is fishing, and every weekend tens of thousands of people spend their time on water bodies. At the same time, we can not always afford to get out on the river at the moment when we want to. There are many reasons for this – mostly it is either a banal lack of time, or, for example, quite frequent business trips. And if you take the same floating rod can almost always, the usual spinning rod takes much more space, and if the conversation is about luggage on the airplane, it is also an additional expense. In addition, it is not a fact that we will be able to fish at all, and our agony may well be in vain.
And here for such “woebegone” relatively recently appeared a special class of fishing rods – travel. And over the past 5-6 years, such spinning rods have appeared in the assortment of literally every manufacturer, as to ignore their popularity was already impossible. And as you have already guessed, it is about “travels” and will be discussed in this opus.
Design
Most of them have a plug design
The most important of the requirements for these spinning rods is only one criterion – a small length of the rod in the transport state. This is achieved mainly through the use of multi-sectional design. And if the very first models for the most part were telescopic, then recently the situation has completely changed, now they mostly have a plug design.
As a rule, such a rod consists of 4-6 elements, which are connected to each other exactly on the same principle as the usual two-part spinning rods. It seems to me that this format is much more preferable because it is more reliable and provides a more correct rod structure. But the weight due to the addition of “extra” joints in such spinning rods is often a little more than their usual counterparts. This is due to the fact that each joint requires additional reinforcement, which increases the weight. In more expensive models, this difference is insignificant, and in cheaper models – it is already a little more.
Otherwise, they do not differ much from conventional spinning rods
Otherwise, the design of “travelers” does not differ from conventional spinning. There are exactly the same elements in the form of rings, reel holder and the handle itself. Also, depending on the purpose of the rod can be used as a hollow (tubular) or solid (solid) tip.
Examples of models
Personal experience
Thanks to such spinning rods you can spend more time fishing
First of all, I considered this format solely because of the compactness of the spinning rods themselves. Since I do not have enough time for fishing, it was assumed that on the way to work or vice versa – from it, I will always be able to give an hour or two to my favorite activity at the nearest body of water. Moreover, a small box with lures and reel also do not take up much space, and in total , the whole set fits in a small backpack. Without trying such a spinning in business, buy something expensive I did not really want to. Therefore, I chose a couple of budget options (Kosadaka Patrol/Kosadaka Brave) and immediately started to conquer the expanses of nearby pereplueks. However, it all did not last long at all because of the fact that with time it became worse or, to be more precise, it did not become at all. Perhaps everything would have ended there, but because of crooked hands and unforeseen breakage of the main light I had to use reserves in the person of Kosadaka Brave even during rafting on the Dnieper. And in general it did not disappoint me at all, as it turned out that it behaves exactly the same way as an ordinary rod and exactly the same way as an ordinary two-part rod, does its job and just catches fish.
Advantages and major disadvantages
Easy to fit in a bag or backpack
Spinning rods of this class are really indispensable when you need a compact rod that can easily fit in your backpack or bag. This is especially true when traveling long distances without a car, when you can not worry about forgetting your fishing rod on the train or airplane when you put your backpack with a spinning rod in the luggage. Besides, since it’s not in plain sight, it can’t be stolen, because you never know who you’ll be traveling with.
Debris can get into the joints
Otherwise, the difference is insignificant, and if you don’t worry about it, you won’t even see it at all. Of course, we are talking about ordinary fishing, not sports, where really every little thing can bring results and the first place on the podium.
From the disadvantages of purely subjectively can only indicate a slightly higher weight and increased number of joints, which must be constantly monitored and take care that they did not get debris. Here you can also include the fact that such rods, as a rule, are still more universal, so it is very difficult or, to be more precise, simply unrealistic to find something very specific.
Conclusions
Such spinning rods can be used on a par with two-part spinning rods
This type of rod has a full right to life. In addition to the above reasons, it can be used in normal conditions on a par with two-part spinning, especially if you consider buying more expensive models, there is virtually no difference between them. Well, and compactness – it is in Africa compactness. After all, it’s just cool, when after work, you can take an hour or two walk along your favorite river, without spending a minute to collect …

Traveling is like spinning a yarn; every place has a story. Once, I got lost in a market in Marrakech. Instead of stressing out, I chatted with locals and discovered hidden gems. It turned into the best adventure, proving that getting lost can lead to unexpected treasures!
Absolutely! I remember getting lost in Venice once. Instead of panicking, I followed the sound of music and stumbled upon a small festival. It was full of laughter and amazing food. Sometimes, the best memories come from those little detours!
Traveling opens your eyes in ways you never expect! Last summer, I hit the road solo, met amazing people, and soaked up new cultures. Every twist and turn felt like a fresh chapter. It’s wild how a simple trip can spin your whole perspective. Totally recommend it!
