Armazenamento e transporte de iscos: as caixas mais bem sucedidas

If we look at the arsenal of any average spinning angler, most often we will see a bunch of absolutely different boxes of all colors and sizes….

Meanwhile, many manufacturers try to stick to the most “popular” sizes, and as a result we can easily combine them with each other. Besides, as a rule, these sizes are also taken not from the ceiling, and if you pay attention to this before buying, then in the end you can greatly simplify your life and when storing baits at home, and directly on the fishing. Well, in this article, based on my experience, I will try to show it more clearly and hope that this information will be useful.

Large size

The three boxes are roughly the same in terms of their characteristics

Let’s start, perhaps, with the largest representatives in my collection….

Despite the absolutely different names, purposes and even manufacturers, these three boxes have the same size – 275(mm.)x187(mm). Well, or if we are going to get down to it, it’s almost the same size – Dream Master DM-2800D is 2 millimeters less wide than its brethren. The height of these boxes differs, as they are produced in several variants even within one model. And now we’ll tell you a little bit more about each of them.

Ring Star – Dream Master DM-2800D, Meiho Versus VS-3038

Suitable for baits of any type

You can say that these two boxes are absolutely identical and differ only in minor small details. They are suitable for storing absolutely any type of baits and due to removable dividers the cells can be adjusted literally millimeter to millimeter. Therefore, in both cases you can place quite an impressive arsenal, starting with quite large minnows and ending with tiny crankbaits like Tsuribito Baby Crank 25.

Meiho Reversible 165

All accumulated moisture drains out through the drainage holes

A classic double-sided “wobbler” box, which allows you to place lures up to 165 millimeters long inside. Of course, this refers to the total length together with the paddle, so before purchasing this point should be taken into account, and if you have “controversial” wobblers, it is better to measure them in advance. Due to special drainage holes in each cell all accumulated moisture goes away naturally, and our lures always stay dry, so you can not worry about the safety of fittings, even if you use this box only once a season. Lately, I prefer to go fishing with very few lures, so I can focus more on a particular model or even a particular size. So at the moment these boxes are more for storing wobblers at home, but if you are going camping for a long time or need an impressive stock of lures with you, they will be very relevant. In general, it’s ideal if you haven’t decided what you’re going to fish for or, as in my case, it’s a basic box for storing baits at home.

Medium Size

The next option on my list is the 3010-205 (mm)x145 (mm) size. This series produces just a huge number of models with completely different interior space and functionality. My arsenal includes the following variants:

Meiho Versus Rungun Case 3010 W/Meiho Versus Rungun Case 3010 W-1

A handy option for short-term fishing trips

A very convenient option for short outings and small baits. These two-sided cases differ from each other only by the presence of neoprene backing on one side of the W-1 model with slots for storing small trolling rods, jig heads or already equipped baits. With the included removable dividers, you can adjust the cells as you like, and a special coating on the lid prevents silicone lures from sticking to it.

Meiho Versus VS-3010NS

Image 1 : Storing and transporting baits: the most successful boxes

The classic version for the most popular wobblers

A classic variant with a small height. In my case, it serves as a storage for the most popular wobblers, which should always be at hand. It is convenient because each lure lies separately and if we need a quick change we can remove it with one hand instead of unraveling a garland of two or three wobblers. These are mostly crankbaits, of course, as for everything else I have boxes from the Rungun series or more specialized variants, which we’ll come back to a little later.

Meiho Versus Reversible 140

A relative newcomer from Meiho. Due to a completely different arrangement of latches, the manufacturer has managed to keep the most popular size and at the same time even such lures as Zipbaits Orbit 110 SP or TsuYoki WINK 110SP can be placed inside without any problems. Otherwise it is a usual “wobbler” box and everything that I wrote about Meiho Reversible 165 is completely true for it. As a rule, this size of boxes is the main one for me during fishing trips. It is quite self-sufficient, as it allows you to take with you the necessary minimum stock of baits and at the same time not to worry that something is not enough. If it is necessary to place in one bag, they are quite good friends with the previous size as well, because in total the dimensions of two boxes 3010 are only two centimeters larger.

The little ones …

Meiho Versus Reversible F-86

The box is designed for stickbaits and small minnows

A small double-sided box with dimensions 140×104×22 (mm). There are six triangular cells on both sides and, as you have already realized, it is designed for storing very small minnows or stickbaits. Due to the fact that it has a small height, not all baits can be placed inside, even if they are perfect in length. Actually, that’s why I mostly keep something like DUO Tetra Works Yurameki 48S or Zip Baits Rigge Raphael 45S stickbaits in it, which fit perfectly.

Select Reversible Box SLHS-999

Image 1 : Storage and transportation of baits

A copy of the previous box with a slightly higher height

In essence, this is a complete copy of the previous box, only, as in the original Meiho Reversible D-86, it has a slightly higher height, which allows you to place even such lures as Tackle House Bitstream SS 73 or Yo-Zuri 3DS Popper 65F. Of course, the quality of plastic here is worse than in the “Japanese”, and even simplified some details. Nevertheless, this box has the right to life, especially in connection with the fact that Reversible E D-86 is not found on sale for a long time.

As in the past, these boxes have quite compatible dimensions with the 3010 and fit perfectly together with them in one bag. And for backcountry fishing it is the most ideal option, as it allows you to keep a minimum stock of lures in any free pocket or in a small chest bag.

Man, I’ve tried a bunch of bait boxes, but the ones with the adjustable dividers are game-changers! Keeps my baits organized and fresh. Last weekend, I caught a ton using my favorite setup! Definitely worth the investment. Can’t wait for the next fishing trip!
