Recently, in addition to hunting for zherekh, I have become quite interested in the topic of pikeperch fishing at night. And if in the beginning the lion’s share of my arsenal was made up of silicone lures, now the ball is ruled exclusively by wobblers. Immediately I want to clarify that this type of fishing for me is far from the most basic, so I do not have so many baits designed for fangs. But for a couple of years, even among them formed a small knuckle of favorites. Naturally, it consists exclusively of those wobblers, which have proved themselves only from the best side and not once helped me in those moments, when the bite leaves much to be desired….
Skagit Designs Chase Minnow Deep 50F
This wobbler appeared at me at the very beginning of last season, but literally immediately broke into the leading positions. It is quite natural that its small size (50 mm.) and weight (3 gr.) impose its imprint both on the set of gear and on the places where it can be used, but it is worth it.
The wobbler almost immediately took the leading positions
First, because the pikeperch in summer is caught not only on the rolls. It can also be found literally at the very feet under the shore, especially if it is a “reverse” or a sharp slope to the depth. Accordingly, we do not always need a long throw. And secondly – after dawn, I still stay there , but already switch to the gerich or chub, for catching which is used all the same light tackle set.
The game at Chase Minnow Deep 50F is extremely high-frequency and very pronounced. Actually, that’s why you don’t need to think up anything with the wiring and it is quite enough to use the usual “even” in a medium pace. If desired, it can always be diversified with pauses or vice versa – periodic accelerations.
TsuYoki WATSON 80SP
Works best on soft twitching
A medium-sized minnow that can be used equally well with different tackle sets. The average depth is around one meter and is perfect for fishing the coastal part of the roll. Flight characteristics due to the decent weight and built-in system of long-range throwing is very impressive, which in turn allows us to use this wobbler as a kind of “searcher”. You can use a variety of wiggles, starting with “even” and ending with a rather aggressive twitching. At me, contrary to established stereotypes, the best works best so-called soft twitching. And the speed of wiring itself is also quite high. What this is due to, I can only guess, most likely it is simply increased interest in actively fleeing prey and competition of fish from the same pack in a desire to get ahead of each other.
In general, WATSON 80SP – this is a very simple wobbler, which literally does everything for you yourself and with its mastering will not have any problems at all, even for beginners.
TsuYoki WINK 110F / TsuYoki WINK 110SP
Suspender is better for low activity
We can say that this sweet couple, and there are those minnows, without which I will not go for pikeperch at all. They complement each other perfectly, and the only significant difference is in their degree of buoyancy. Actually, it is she and makes adjustments to their behavior, due to which WINK 110F has a slightly more active game than WINK 110SP. In practice, this is expressed in the fact that most often I start fishing with a floating version and if I see that the activity of lúcio is very low, then put already suspender, as it can be and spend slower, and during the pause it remains in the same horizon where it was.
Otherwise, it is the most common minnow with excellent flight data and are designed for fishing on the deeper parts of the roll or along the bank dump. The depth of both models is the same and is an average of one and a half meters. In addition to pikeperch when fishing on WINK 110 (in both versions) very often in the bycatch is caught and grayling, and pike – this is a separate conversation … You can say that WINK and steel leash for me – these words are synonyms, as it is caught on this bait even deep at night.
Pontoon 21 Dexter Minnow 71S-SR/ Pontoon 21 Dexter Minnow 71SP-SR
It would seem that this bait has absolutely not a pike-type, but nevertheless, in addition to stud Dexter Minnow works perfectly and on fangs. Unlike the previous couple, the difference between the versions is more substantial. It consists in the fact that the sinking version I use only on a very strong stream and when it is necessary to catch some local groove on the roll. Accordingly, and wiring is more like a very aggressive twitching with short and strong jerks.
But the suspender can be conducted as you like, most often I have a very slow even wiring with constant pauses in the most promising places. In principle, in terms of behavior and places of catching it I have it competes with the above-mentioned TsuYoki WATSON 80SP with the only difference that I use it exclusively on passive fish.
Next season the leaders may change
Of course, in my arsenal there are many more baits that I use in one way or another when catching pikeperch. But at the moment they mostly serve for some highly specialized purposes, or simply have not yet deserved to be mentioned here. And that’s why I haven’t made any arrangement of baits in places, as already this season everything can be quite the opposite …
