Any fisherman knows – there is nothing to do without such boots on fishing. Unless you have a dungaree or waders. But this is a separate topic of conversation. Today we will talk specifically about boots.
They are called in all sorts of ways.
Swampers, zabrodniki, zabrodniki, brodni…. Whatever you call them – the essence does not change. Their main task is to protect from water where ordinary boots can not pass.
Important: buy boots should be depending on where and how you are going to wear them.
Because the properties of some wading boots are different from others. And if you choose wrong, you will be disappointed. Although the point is not that the boots are “bad”, but that you did not take into account the properties of the material and incorrectly exploited them. Or stored (we will also talk about this, but a little later).
What kind of boots are there? And how do they differ from each other?
Swamp boots consist of two parts. The lower part is the boot itself. And the upper part is a superstructure, which is attached in a special way (the type of attachment also depends on the material). From the top of the extension has straps-hinges to attach the boots to the belt.
The boots can be made of rubber, PVC or EVA.
And the overmold can be PVC, nylon, vinitol or neoprene.
Now about all combinations of materials in order.
Wading boots made of PVC
They came to replace the boots that were made in Soviet times from rubber. Or rubber, as it is called by some.
PVC is a more modern material. But functionally they are very similar.
Yes, and at a price are not particularly different. Their cost is about 1200 rubles.
In fact, directly from PVC in such swampers is made only of the lower part (boots). The superstructure itself is made of PVC-fabric or vinitol. From the same material make inflatable boats. Therefore, there are usually no problems with the fact that to glue, if necessary, such bogs, usually does not arise: remkomplekt for the boat from vinitol can be found in any fishing store.
It is important to remember: PVC wading boots are exclusively a summer option. In spring and fall, their feet freeze even with warm socks. Because PVC, like rubber, conducts heat.
For cold water are more suitable options with boots made of EVA.
So, what do we have? A combination of PVC and vinitol. Reliable and budget-friendly.
From the disadvantages: heavy compared to other options (but not yet the heaviest).
Wading boots made of PVC one-piece.
The very case when the boots are made entirely of PVC. The textile overlay is the same thickness as the boot itself. The most durable and reliable option. Used where you need to walk a lot in the bushes and there is a risk of damaging the fabric.
Of course, they are heavier than the previous option, but not critically.
By the way, such boots do not need to be attached with straps to the belt – they are already perfectly held. But the holes are still provided. Cost: about 1300 rubles.
Wading boots made of PVC with nylon
They differ from the previous models in that the overlay is made of nylon. It is lighter, more elastic and stronger than vinitol. Especially if it is a Czech or Korean-made fabric like Nordman.
Nylon has more color options. If vinitol, as a rule, swamp or black color, nylon can be any color. Most often it is “camouflage”. Therefore, hunters have a special love for them.
They are a little more expensive than the swampers made of PVC with vinitol. Cost: about 1800 rubles.
Swamp boots made of EVA with nylon
To such boots can be treated differently. But the fact is obvious – for some situations they are simply indispensable. And here’s why.
Thanks to the EVA boot, such bog boots are several times lighter and warmer than PVC boots. The only thing is that they can not boast the same durability.
In EVA boots you need to walk more carefully – make sure not to step on a limb or protruding peaks of reeds. Some manufacturers for protection against punctures reinforce the sole with a strong plastic insert. This does not protect the lateral part from cuts, but prevents mechanical damage to the sole. After all, most cuts occur when walking, when there is a chance of stepping on something hard and sharp – broken bottles, sticks, stones.
Just be careful. As a last resort, you can try to glue such boots with a special glue for EVA.
But standing in cold water in such boots is much more pleasant. EVA perfectly retains heat. In addition, some models come with a warm fur liner. With him, cold water is not terrible at all. Cost: about 2,300 rubles.
But there is one point.
EVA protects from cold water, and nylon – not. That is, if you stand shallow – everything will be fine. But if you go at least knee-deep, discomfort is possible. Nylon, like vinitol, conducts heat. This means that it is better to stand in cold water in such wading boots not higher than the level of the joint between the boot and the extension or put on additional thermal underwear and warm pants.
And even better – have special zabrodes for spring-autumn made of neoprene.
Wading boots made of EVA with neoprene
Neoprene, like EVA, perfectly retains heat. Therefore, such bog boots are an ideal option even for icy water. But there is a downside: in hot weather in such bog boots is not always comfortable. Although boots are not a suit. Everything is simpler here.
And one more thing.
When choosing, pay attention that the thickness of neoprene was more than 3 mm. It is desirable 4-5 mm. Then the insulating properties will be better. Cost: about 4,300 rubles.
Spodný riadok
For the forest and walking fishing in “difficult” conditions, PVC swampers will be suitable.
In order to climb bushes – solid-cast.
If the shore or bottom “clean” – suitable boots made of EVA. Especially when the water is cold.
For icy water, EVA boots with a neoprene shank are ideal.
Choose boots correctly, “under the situation”. And they will please every time as for the first time.
