Chytanie klenov z brehu

Catching chub on spinning is a very exciting activity. It is interesting because this fish is not so easy to catch. It is difficult to imagine that you can come to quite popular and pressed places and catch this fatty there. It can work out with pikeperch, pike, perch, but not with chub. This beautiful fish needs a special approach. I have already written about the peculiarities of its catching from the boat, and this time I want to talk about how, where and what you can catch chub from the shore.

Place and tactics of catching

Naturally, each fisherman’s places are very different, depending on the type of terrain. Even at my place – in Belarus – people catch quite differently. The northern “colleagues” are dominated by small classic golovlevy rivers. I, on the contrary, have three big rivers (Dnieper, Sozh and Pripyat), two medium-sized rivers (Iput and Berezina) and a few small rivers where the chub are not found. On these rivers there are practically no rolls. Not the easiest conditions for catching “lobastogo”, but it is very possible to catch it. It is important to just understand where and at what time of year he will stand, and everything will work out!

I will say at once, I have no winter experience of catching this fish, because our rivers freeze, and from the ice I also like to fish, so all the catching will be described from spring to fall inclusive. In spring, when the water begins to warm up, the first insects fly out, the chub begins to feed quite actively before spawning. He eats not only gnats, but also fry. At such a time, he prefers to be on calmer sections of rivers with reverse currents and depth.

In summer, he can occupy virtually any place on the reservoir, except that the current must necessarily be present there. It can be a backwater, and pit, and roll. Or it can become along a steep bank with a steep ditch, and then sprout up on a spit with coquina. In general, you can look for it everywhere, it all depends on the water body and today’s mood golavl. At this time is best to work wobblers krenki. Therefore, although summer is considered an excellent time to catch chub, but in large rivers it is often very difficult to find it.

In the fall, when he again begins to “gain fat”, on large rivers I look for him on the current along the bushes. Such specific places are immediately visible – our shore is washed up, the current runs along the shore, bushes are in the water, along them runs a strong stream. Golavl often comes out of the bushes and becomes on the stream in expectation of a fry or hides in the bushes to take a break, but at any moment can jump out to attack. Therefore, at this time I catch golavl wobblers with a runny body shape. With wiring is difficult to make a mistake, if you constantly change them: from a simple uniform with pauses to a fairly rigid twitching.

Výber výstroja

To the choice of fishing rod you need to approach seriously, because the golavl is a very strong opponent. If you plan to catch on clean areas without snags, I would recommend a rod up to 7 grams, but if there is even the slightest hint that the fish can go into the bushes or under the bark, I take my Major Craft Finetail up to 12 grams. Such a set will allow you to catch the majority of chub baits and avoid unfortunate failures and breaks. I don’t trifle with the braid either – minimum 0.6# according to Japanese classification, and for the rod up to 12 grams – 0.8. The main thing is that the rod can work out fish jerks and at the same time has a powerful bobber to keep the chub from leaving. For our purposes, you can use salmon or trout rods. As inexpensive but quality rods I can advise you to pay attention to the SLrods Atria II and SLrods Atria Trout series. The second series is a bit stiffer and will allow you to fish even with jig, but Trout is more specialized, but it works the fish on a hurrah, not giving it a chance to go down. The reel should be chosen according to its capabilities. It is desirable that it had a small weight, accurate friction and work with thin braids.

In spring and fall chub responds well to wobblers shad and minnow, because they imitate a fry. The main thing is that the lures work well on the current and have their own uniform game. Examples include Zipbaits Rigge 35F, Itumo Rowdy 50SS, Zipbaits Khamsin Jr. 50 SR, Strike Pro Mustang Minnow 45F.

With crankbaits everything is a bit more complicated. Their choice is too huge, among all the options you need to find not only working, but also suitable for their conditions, depth. Therefore, I will bring, perhaps, five options: Jackall Chubby 38F, TsuYoki Chef, TsuYoki Fugaz, Tsuribito Baby Crank, Strike Pro Cranky-X.

You can notice that chubby, cranky and chef are superficially very similar, but do not pay attention to this, these are really completely different wobblers in frequency, so the presence of all three in the box is justified.

Catching chub from the shore is such a thrill! Last weekend, I snared a nice one using dough balls. The fight was intense! Trust me, if you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out on some serious fun. Grab your gear and hit the water!

Last summer, I had a blast catching chub from the shore at my local lake. I used simple corn as bait, and it worked like a charm. The thrill when they bite is unbeatable! It’s a chill way to spend the day and connect with nature.

That sounds amazing! I remember using corn for bait at a local stream and catching this massive trout. The excitement when it bites is something else! There’s just something special about being out there, soaking up nature while waiting for a tug on the line. Pure bliss!
