It would seem that what can be easier than catching such a well-known fish as crucian carp? Nothing complicated! However, for successful catching you need to know its habits and preferences and have a couple of secret tricks to seduce the sometimes uncooperative fish. Some of the nuances of catching crucian carp and will be discussed below.

Habitats

Perhaps it is not necessary to focus on the habitats of this fish, since crucian carp is widespread and can be found in almost every body of water. However, when choosing a place, you should give preference to well-warmed lakes, ponds or river bays with an abundance of vegetation and mud bottom.

Methods of catching

There are several effective ways of catching crucian carp and all of them are good in their own way and bring good results. However, I would like to focus my attention on the float fly rod.

Equipping the fly rod

Float fly rod is rightly considered a classic tackle for catching crucian carp. Depending on the conditions of fishing (from the shore or from a boat), a light fly rod up to 5-6 meters long will be suitable.

Many anglers use rods with rings(bologna rods) because of the convenience in transportation.

You can use such rods, but the minuses of the tackle will be an order of magnitude more than the pluses. This is and additional weight, and sticking fishing line to the rod, and unnecessary elements of the tackle, such as a reel. This tackle is more suitable for fishing on the river, on the current. If you need a long throw, then for catching crucian carp is better suited match rod, but this is a different topic of conversation. The fly rod is equipped with a connector, to which the main fishing line with the entire rigging is subsequently attached. The snap itself is the main fishing line with a diameter of 0.16 – 0.18 mm.

The float can be load capacity from 1 to 4 grams or a little more, depending on the fishing conditions. In terms of shape, in principle, will fit prkatiki any float, as fishing is often conducted in standing water. More often fishermen prefer floats of elongated shape. The float is loaded with lead pellets, which are sold in sets. A leash with a hook is knitted to the end of the main fishing line. The diameter of the leash is selected under the potential prey, taking into account a number of factors such as fish activity, water clarity, etc. But in any case, it should be thinner than the main fishing line, so that in case of snagging do not lose the entire equipment. At the end of the leash is knitted hook, the size of which is also selected for the bait and possible trophy.

Baits and baits

Thus we logically got to the baits and baits. Plant baits and animal baits are divided. The latter include worms, oparychis, moths and other critters. Such baits more often show a good result in the spring and closer to the fall. In summer time, baits of vegetable origin can cause a higher interest in crucian carp. The most popular baits are perlovka, semolina, corn, dough.

Perlovka can be prepared in several ways: boil, steamed in a thermos. The second method is less troublesome – pour boiling water over the groats, closed tightly and in a few hours it is ready. You can add honey, vanilla, cinnamon, unrefined sunflower oil and other flavorings. You can use purchased flavorings and experiment with flavors on the spot. For these purposes, various flavorings and dips can be suitable. In addition, sometimes it is worth adding pearl in the bait and use “breaded” in this way groats as bait as a coarse fraction during baiting. Such bait additionally attracts crucian carp with its aroma and a small cloud of muti.

Manna boltushka is another quite effective bait (not only for crucian carp). The whole process of preparation is quite simple: to semolina you need to add a little water and mix well. It is necessary to give the mixture to insist about 30-40 minutes, after which it should be shaken a little more. The result should be a stretchy, sticky mass, which is easy to wind on the hook with a stick. Ready-made bait can be applied to the hook and with the help of a medical syringe. You can also add flavorings to such bait.

Sometimes crucian carp, especially large, responds well to sweet canned corn. It can be purchased in almost any grocery store. Increase the attractiveness of such bait can be added to the hook of the larvae of the opary. You can also attract the interest of fish by using dips.

Bete

As bait, any ready-made mixture for crucian carp is suitable. An important criterion will be only the expiration date. Since the composition of bait contains a large number of grains, confectionery, flavorings and so on. “goodies”, then such a mixture can be stored for a limited time. Bait with expired shelf life can not only lose its properties and flavor, but also spoil, go rancid, and, ultimately, in the fishing trip it will only scare away the fish, not collect it in the desired place. You can, of course, get fancy and prepare bait yourself. In the course can go porridge, breadcrumbs, ground cookies, etc. However, nowadays the range of ready-made bait is very rich and can satisfy not only the fish with its composition, but also the fisherman affordable price tag. The most popular mixtures have the smell of garlic, fruit and biscuits or other sweets. According to my observations, garlic works better in the spring, and fruit works better in the summer.

Slutsats

Thus it turns out that for a successful hunt for crucian carp we will need a reliable, light fly rod 5-6 meters long, ready-made jigs on reels (line, float, weight, hook), several types of bait / bait (worm, pearl worm, chaff, oparychis, corn) and a kilogram of ready-made bait mixture. If you are not lazy, look for the key to the fish, experimenting with baits and bait, even this minimal equipment is enough to achieve a good result and get a lot of pleasure from catching this not only strong and beautiful, but also very tasty fish.
